Are you looking for a challenge with purpose & meaning? Well, you can achieve that at 29k, where we aim to impact millions. We're looking for an experienced JavaScript developer to build an emotionally engaging personal growth app that aims to bring people together to help them live meaningful lives.
What we believe
At 29k we believe that individuals have the capacity to change the world for the better. If we can help people live more meaningful lives, they will improve the world through their actions. To achieve this ambitious goal, we're developing a platform that combines proven psychology-based exercises with cultivating human connection through live video sharing.
Who we are
29k is a non-profit foundation founded by the Norrsken Foundation and Ekskäret Foundation, with research partners at Karolinska, London University, and Harvard. We are building a free and open-source platform for personal development. Our 3-year goal is to improve the lives of 5 million people, and our long term goal is to reach a threshold where we see systemic change in the world
In product we work in a self-organising manner — creating, starting and taking responsibilities for initiatives together. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to take ownership and build a team with the different skills and competences we have in the organisation.
We are a small, close-knit Dev team of six skilled and motivated people who are convinced that the world can and needs to be changed for the better.
Our code is just the means for our mission and, therefore, our default position is to collaborate around problem-solving — i.e., pair or mob programming. We focus on releasing small and fast iterations to learn what works and recover fast from our expected failures. In fact, we celebrate failures if that drives new learnings!
Our stack is built solely on JavaScript, with React Native for the front-end and serverless node.js for the back-end. We all contribute to the full stack, but individually we have a passion for different parts.
